Intrauterine insemination (IUI), is a type of artificial insemination fertility treatment that involves transferring fresh or frozen- thawed sperm into a woman’s or gender diverse person assigned female at birth’s uterus in synchrony with ovulation and the release of an egg from the ovary. IUI does not involve embryos or donated eggs but can use donated sperm. IUI is a more natural process than IVF, but also therefore a less successful form of treatment. Success rates for IUI are generally around a third of that for IVF
